REAL-WORLD EXAMPLES
SOME CASE STUDIES FROM GREATER DARWIN
RANKU GENERAL STORE AND CLUB
On the Tiwi Islands, this store is one of the only areas for people to get supplies in the area. It used a mini-grid that cost over 40 cents per kWh, which was more than the store could feasibly afford. iSolarNT trained eight locals and installed an off-grid solar panel on the roof. This decreased the cost of electricity and AC.
BARTALUMBA AND LITTLE PARADISE
Here, we worked to create a more sustainable energy source for the two communities on Groote Eylandt. The cost of energy was becoming too much for the area. iSolarNT installed solar panels with battery storage in both communities. This created new jobs in the area and levelled the playing field for all residents of the area.
MANUNGURRA ABORIGINAL CORPORATION
The rising cost of diesel in the Barkly Tablelands made it difficult for residents to continue living in the country. iSolarNT's solution to the problem was to install Dice WattGrid systems to the area. These systems include solar panels and energy storage. People have returned to the area, and the school can afford AC.
SOLAR AND BATTERY STORAGE
The electricity tariff was becoming too much for four communities located in the Bidunggu and Doomadgee areas in Queensland. The solution iSolarNT used was to install a solar solution with 60kW + 40 kWh storage that uses a hybrid/grid connection to all fo the homes and offsets energy consumption by 50 – 80 percent.
